Bigg Boss is an Indian reality show franchise that is based in the Dutch reality show Big Brother. The show produces by Endemol Shine India through Viacom18 and Disney Star. In turn, the different version of the program are available through the OTT platforms.
Bigg Boss was first conceived in the Hindi language, and has since been extended into seven languages spoken in the Indian subcontinent, including Kannada, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi and Malayalam.
There have been seven versions of the show in different languages spoken in the Indian subcontinent. The initial show of the franchise was Bigg Boss in Hindi, which debuted in 2006 through Bigg Boss Telugu Vote Sony TV, and from season two, it shifted to and continues to air on Colors TV. In 2013, the franchise expanded its reach to Kannada through Colors Kannada and Bengali through ETV Bangla, later rebranded as Colors Bangla. In 2017, the franchise expanded its reach into Tamil through Star Vijay and in Telugu through Star Maa. In 2018, it ventured in Marathi via Colors Marathi and into Malayalam via Asianet.
